Re: Cobas AM: Nueva Gestora de Francisco García Paramés
Eso en parte me gusta.
BNSF, like other Class I railroads, uses only a single gallon of diesel fuel to move a ton of freight almost 500 miles. Those economics make railroads four times as fuel-efficient as trucks! (their main competitor). ..... If railroads were not making these huge expenditures, our country’s publicly-financed highway system would face even greater congestion and maintenance problems than exist today. ..... Means our railroad owns an important advantage in operating costs. Concurrently, our country gains because of reduced greenhouse emissions and a much smaller need for imported oil. When traffic travels by rail, society benefits.
BNSF New CEO on September 2020. BNSF has four main business sectors: In 2019, the company’s revenue was made up of 35% consumer products, 27% industrial products, 21% agricultural products and 17% coal. In times of economic downturn, the rail industry can still be seen as a bellwether for the state of the recovery. “We’re really closely tied to the industrial and consumer markets,” she said. “When you see times where those markets are down, the railroad, our loadings, are a leading indicator for what you’re going to see in the economy.”
“We basically say that if we’re handling 200,000 units a week, that indicates we’re a busy railroad,” she explained. “In 2018, we handled over 200,000 units a week, 41 times that year. Fast forward to 2020 and with the impact of the pandemic, we haven’t hit 200,000 units on our railroads yet.”
“In the depth of the pandemic, our rail loadings were actually down to about 150,000 units a week,” she added.
Annual Letter 2015. Risk: BNSF, along with other railroads, is certain to lose significant coal volume over the next decade. None of these problems, however, is crucial to Berkshire’s long-term well-being. We´ll simply adapt.
