A lot of things have been going on recently that may or may not be related to WAMU., but it seems a lot of stars are lining up that point to something happening. This is the weekend before the written closing arguments are due. Once those arguments are made public (they could be filed under seal so that time could be delayed) they will give everyone involved (except equity) a very black eye and expose massive corruption. The entire nation's interest is diverted to the circus in congress this weekend and nobody is paying attention to WAMU. JPMC has been putting out distorted propaganda all week about how the WAMU acquisition has hurt their bottom line. There was a flurry of positive stock market interest and then everything died off and we go back to MM manipulation mode on low volume. The July 28th hearing gets canceled and nobody is talking. No press releases from Rosen, Nothing in the papers, No speculation from self appointed stock gurus.

I see two optimum potential times for a settlement. One would be after this weekend right before the written arguments are due. The other would be right before the oral arguments on the 15th. However if the written arguments from the EC are not filed under seal, the cat will already be out of the bag and the dirty laundry will already be out there for all to see. That will mean that there is less incentive for the HF's to settle since they will not be as able to hide what they did. I also think JPM and the FDIC want to bury the truth so they would be more interested in a settlement before anything is made public. This is all pointing to something happening before August 3rd, with diminishing odds but still possible before August 15.

When I first bought into the P's after the bankruptcy, I expected there would be a settlement. I wanted a settlement. Now as this has dragged on and I see the total corruption from nearly everyone, I am not sure I want a quick settlement. With just a couple of reasonable decisions from JMW, I think there is a real opportunity to get a much higher return by battling the FDIC and JPM in the courts. The bottom line is we were done wrong. The country is pissed off at the corruption on Wall Street. If we can ever get to a jury trial, we have a chance to really score big. I kind of hate to lose that opportunity by taking a settlement that makes us less than whole. So I go into this weekend with mixed emotions. A settlement that ends this long ordeal and gives me some real money would be nice, but no settlement with the hope to teach some of the evil ones a lesson would also work for me.
