Como los medios son controlados por corporaciones, intentan retratar el fenómeno como "los americanos no quieren trabajar" que nos recuerda cuando en 2010 la OCDE decía que los españoles tenían "baja productividad", lo que sugería que son vagos, en lugar de decir que no era la productividad, sino la producción la que bajó, y no había producción porque no había pedidos de la clientela.

Algo similar ocurre con la filosofía de "no hacer nada" en China. La gente se cansó de ser parte de la carrera de ratas donde trabajan de 9AM a 9PM durante 6 días a la semana y no van a llegar muy lejos.  La desesperanza de surgir socialmente hace que la gente decida salirse de la carrera de ratas.

Igual que los medios occidentales que retratan a los trabajadores americanos con frases como "no quieren trabajar", en China el gobierno trata de que la filosifía de "no hacer nada" que consiste en vivir al mínimo, no ser presa de las deudas ni de las cargas que te convierten en esclavo de otros.

Pensarías que los chinos tienen sus razones, pero parece que los americanos ya vieron agotada su paciencia también.  Es que una cosa es tener mucha paciencia, y otra es ser tonto. Cuando tienes mucha paciencia parece como si fueras sumiso y obediente, pero cuando las personas  pierden la paciencia...

Burger King dice que este mensaje fue una broma de un empleado. No sé que te parece a tí, pero a mi me parece que lo dice en serio. En la ventanilla del local estaba un rótulo donde decía que contrataban gente.

As an 8 year Starbucks Barista, feeling stuck and stressed, doing the same repetitive unfulfilling crap everyday has gotten old, and has thankfully opened my eyes to the part of society I don’t want to be apart of. It just keeps getting busier and busier, without any extra pay. I’ve been doing 3x the work with hardly any raise.

We all realized that there's more to life than low paying thankless jobs with awful bosses, backstabbing coworkers, long commutes, little to no benefits etc. To all job-seekers, I wish you good luck and pray that you all find your well-deserved happiness. ❤️

People are tied of unfair scheduling, lack of benefits while working full time because of loopholes in the law. The national minimum wage is still $ 7.25/hour, who can live off of that???

It's almost like people finally figured out how soul crushing some of those jobs are.

I would rather die than be a battery for this failed system any longer.

It’s refreshing to see this segment was not about the narrative that “nobody wants to work.” People want to work however, they want to be treated fairly and make a livable wage.

The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for some of us who wanted to change careers, take classes, find new jobs etc. I love that there are a lot more full-time work from home opportunities.

Im 54, have quit many jobs over the years, and the number one reason is NOT money, it is a lack of respect. So if employers want to keep employees, that should be near the top of the list as to how.

The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. No one wants to work for sh!t wages. This is what happens when you let the middle class die.

People are waking up to being corporate slave and finally have the balls to stand up to it.

When corporations and companies have made HUGE PROFITS for decades . And NOT shared the success with employees as with fair , profit sharing . And the BS " family owned " businesses that have NEVER treated employees as " family " . But , exploited them endlessly for their fancy houses , cars , adult toys , etc.

People are over working 7 days a week and barely being able to afford rent and basic necessities.

Business owners pushing people too hard because of "pandemic", asking them to work too many hours.  Asking minors to work during school hours too.  It always leads to employees quitting.

No one wants to work just to barely survive …it’s like what’s the point.

I love the comments. I've heard this called a "low-key general strike" and I'm here for it.

These companies are raking billions in profit and still pays minimum wage.

At my job I'm tired of them cutting my hours to nothing. I can't afford anything with the way my hours go up and down!

I left a banking job because they gave in to the demand of the folks that wanted the doors to stay open instead of going through the drive thru. I was already at my wits end with this job and this was the last straw. I now work payroll for a company where I make a bit more as a part time employee than I did at the bank full time. I have also used that extra to build an eBay store, and I am now thankfully more financially stable than I was at the bank. Life has been so much better for me since I left my old job.
Oh, and the bank I worked at got shut down for 2 weeks, 2 weeks later, because staff got covid. I got tested and was negative. So glad that I not only left, but left on time!

It’s not just management at a job. It’s the people above them.

There's no shortage of staff, only shortage of money these big companies are unwilling to pay.

I quit my job because of poor management as well. Glad people are making the change that's needed to happen.

I've worked in a couple different restaurants for 5 years, and they all treated me like a f*ck*ng crap!!! My life were a lot better since I quit and started to work independently! 💪😎 I also felt like 5 years of my life was wasted but... Life goes on!

Worker/ people matter! God didn't create us to be treated like crap for rich peoples stocks to go up in value.

Expect Nebraska to try to pass law's discouraging this using ugly names like "The Essential Skills Retention Bill" making two-weeks notice mandatory.

Most people are just burned out because they've been stretched thin so they quit.

Don't worry folks. At least the rich like Jeff Bezos can take rides into space, while avoiding paying taxes, avoiding paying their workers livable wages, and avoiding improving their employees working conditions.

What happens when the standard cost of living goes up for decades and the minimum wage does not.

I met a man who limped and worked at Walmart. They had him collecting carts while teenagers worked the service desk. He had four jobs, just to pay rent and bills and will have work as long as he can move because he has no savings.

This is really hurting those of us who are still at work. Everyone quit, and now we cannot stay open full days, so everyone left behind is suffering. I do not want to leave my job yet as it is allows me the flexibility to get a degree, but if we keep closing early, I cannot make rent.

Poor lady appears to need Dental care. Yet, w/out employer based insurance or a nationally subsidized plan available to low skilled workforce they are left vulnerable.

If a job can "let you go" for any reason without warning, then you should be able to quit without warning!

The lockdown/quarantine got me into the stock market. I quit my job and will prolly never work another job again. I make 3x as much day trading and with much less effort. 😂🤣

Maybe because places like Burger King are seriously over charging their customers. I say, shut them all down! We all need to eat healthier anyways.

The nerve of these people not wanting to deal with crappy, over demanding bosses, rude customers and exposure to Covid for the kingly sum of $7.50 an hour.

As a conservative, this is the one thing I agree with. These jobs treated their employees with too much disrespect.

As someone who used to work in fast food years ago, I'm glad that people are quitting in droves! Oh, and fast food is harder than most people think, it should pay a lot more than min wage... Disagree? Quit your cushy office job, I hear Burger King is hiring.

Simple supply and demand. The demand for low paying, insecure, demeaning jobs has dried up.

Almost as if people figured out they don't need a terrible job to remain poor...

I got burned out while working at Sonic, I was the only one doing car hop with little to no help most of my shift, toxic work place where the manager talked down on everyone and they would get mad at you for taking a quick sip of water

It’s not easier to find a job when you have a job. The “experts” are lying. I quit my job and 3 months later had prospective employers in a bidding war. And that’s why I stopped watching Stephanie’s show. I can’t even stand her voice any longer. Mind you, I’m in a very specific field. But still. That’s bad advice. Especially in this labor market. Leaving a job you hate can open doors to better opportunities

Before people trash on the lower class just remember, the next industrial revolution will not care where you get your PhD from, the system is broken to the context of what our society is today.

To be honest,  this pandemic made people wake up, people that were living in poverty now see that there's a better chance of doing better. I know some people are still struggling,  but make use of what little the government is giving,  go back to school and reach higher.

Lot of these jobs don't pay living wages. It's hard to work at a job 40 plus hours a week and still be poor AF.

I pretty much quit my serving job and went into a completely different field and could not be happier with my decision.

Here's a secret, an employee will not want to leave a job where they are treated extremely well.

Anyone working a full time job deserves to make enough to support THEMSELVES. You should be able to sustain YOURSELF, at a minimum, if you’re working full time, regardless of the industry/profession. The minimum wage should reflect this. Why is that so unreasonable and difficult to ascertain?

Should have done this a LONG time ago.  Businesses raking-in TONS of profit.... paying slave-wages.  People needed to REVOLT a long time ago.  Greed and corruption is the downfall of the USA.  It's over.

The pandemic has been an eye opening thing for sure. People are tired of being treated like nothing and getting paid far too little for there effort and I don't blame them.

Music to my ears. It's been way too long that companies have held the upper hand, now the tables have turned.

When your managers tell you OVER and OVER that you're replaceable, and not deserving a fair wage..... it's hard to show loyalty to those who will sell you out for a pat on the back like the good manager they are.

Funny thing is Burger King said that this was all a joke by an employee. Tried hard to sweep it under the rug. Haha

We aren't alive on this beautiful planet to let these corporations destroy us along with it. I hate how conflicting I feel about wanting more from life, but having to conform to giving my life away to a company that's going to destroy the future of my children or their children in the end... they don't care about the future. We're the ones fighting the wars, not them.

Maybe employers should stop giving us empty lip service and actually treating us like humans and assets instead of liabilities to be tolerated.

I'm also about to quit my job because I'm just tired of it and want something new and better. It's funny how the tables have turned. Gone are the days were we feel threatened  to be fired by our bosses. They finally realize that their business relies on the employees. Now businesses fear losing their longtime faithful employees because it's not as easy to replace them.

It use to be the the employee had to watch what they say now days the employer gotta watch what they say ... KARMA

¿Por qué están hartos?

A partir de 2008 tienes muchas historias de pérdida de empleos. Mientras a los adinerados les fue extremadamente bien, los empleos empezaron a recuperarse a un ritmo excruciantemente lento.  Las empresas empezaban a tener prácticas abusivas hacia los americanos.

Mirabas muchas historias de jóvenes que recuerdan cuando sus padres perdieron el empleo y miraban a otros que también perdieron la casa.  Cuentan que tuvieron que vivir con sopas de paquete porque no había cómo comprar una mejor comida.

Cuenta una señora mayor americana que ella tenía mucha experiencia en manejo de datos en sistemas militares y acababa de sacar un PhD. Hacía poco habían despedido a muchos americanos.  La contratan por tres meses para enseñarle todo lo que ella sabe a gente de India para que hagan el trabajo.  Ella se queda sin trabajo y mira cómo prefieren trabajadores extranjeros baratos.  La victoria de Donald Trump fue el resultado de ese hartazgo.  Las empresas venían abusando de los trabajadores.

Cuando miras canales de Youtube como el de Joshua Fluke, miras su caso. Su padre le dio muchos años a la empresa. Un día lo recortan y él se ve obligado a montar su negocio usando lo sus habilidades y lo que sabe hacer. Y la empresa lo demanda por violar cláusulas de contrato, porque había una cláusula de no competir contra la empresa.  Y en esa demanda su padre pierde la casa.  Y así Joshua veía la casa donde creció ser habitada por extraños.

Trató de trabajar duro para tratar de progresar.  Trabajaba largas jornadas.  Pero lo que recibió fue despidos repentinos y arbitrarios. Al final, luego de pasar por malos tratos en el ambiente laboral, se hartó.  Y ahora su canal se dedica a denunciar malas prácticas de empresas, y a satirizar la cultura corporativa con una sátira ácida que le ha valido estar en listas negras de empresas.

Desafortunadamente la historia de Fluke no es única ni caso aislado. En el periodo entre 2008 y 2016 fue un periodo de historias muy tristes de trabajadores, que conocí en privado.

El gobierno de Trump trajo alivio de empleo, y cuando se pensaba que iba a caer el empleo con la pandemia, vino el cheque de ayuda de gobierno que dio un respìro a mucha gente.  Otros no fueron tan dichosos y encontraron una manera de ganarse la vida luego de perder sus empleos.

Y es así que luego de más de una década de maltratos, los americanos se hartaron. Imagino que los políticos imaginaron que apoyando a grupos marxistas iban a aglutinar el descontento con cálculo político, pero no. La gente tiene claro que fue desechable para el mundo corporativo. Y con las protestas y la cultura de la cancelación se exacerbó el descontento, pues ya no era sólo que perdías tu trabajo por estar en el lado equivocado de un balance contable, sino que encima ahora no podías ni siquiera expresar molestia cuando veías prácticas moralmente reprochables, y te veías rodeado de política por todas partes, y maltrato o despido por el simple hecho de estar en desacuerdo.

En Ontario Canadá ya también se reportan historias de hartazgo.

Ya la gente entendió que no hay lugar a salvo. Que la corporación te usa como recurso desechable, donde no se reconoce el derecho mínimo al respeto, en un ambiente que carece de empatía, y que paga mal como para andar soportando eso.

Los medios por años nos dijeron que los jóvenes ya no querían casa propia, sino que preferían alquilar.  Nos dijeron que ya no tenían muchos hábitos de consumo.  ¿Será por decisión propia o porque el sistema no permite los hábitos abandonados que ya no son asequibles?

Miras peluqueros y manicuristas que se dan el lujo de rechazar cortar el cabello a los ricos con mala actitud.  Con aforos limitados en resuaturantes, los meseros escogen a quienes servir y a quienes no.  Y los restaurantes de comida rápida tienen problemas para encontrar personal mal pagado.  Es que cuando el salario no te da para pagar tus gastos, y encima te maltratan, el dicho "time is money" se mira como "no time and no money".  Historias como estas se empiezan a ver en muchos sitios ya.  La gente se ha hartado.

Resulta extraño sin embargo que a pesar de la escasez de personal, muchos candidatos aplican y no los llaman.

Estas son las razones de la "escasez de mano de obra":
-salario mínimo para muchas tareas y responsabilidades en el trabajo
-Tienes que estar abierto las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana, de guardia, debes trabajar los fines de semana (no tienes vida)
-Debes tener 1-3 años de experiencia incluso para un trabajo de conserje básico
-ahora necesita certificaciones de OSHA para trabajos básicos de trabajo de nivel de entrada
-Ahora necesitas pasar una "prueba psicológica de personalidad" para trabajos de venta de basura
-Muchos de estos trabajos de salario mínimo de nivel de entrada son muy estresantes, exigentes
-incluso si trabaja 40 horas a la semana, todavía no puede pagar su propio apartamento o estudio

Compañía: despide a los empleados a la primera señal de posibles dificultades
Un año después… “¡No puedo creer que nadie quiera trabajar aquí! ¡Todo es culpa del gobierno!"

Si degradas los trabajos y los llamas "clase sirviente", no te sorprenda cuando esos sirvientes se vayan.

Empleado: ¿Cómo se supone que debo pagar el alquiler?
Empleador: Parece que ese es su problema.
6 meses despues
Empleador: ¿Cómo se supone que voy a administrar mi negocio sin que nadie regrese al trabajo?
Empleado: Oh, parece que ese es su problema. Es un edificio muy bonito desde el que está operando. Estoy seguro de que alguien encontrará un uso para él.  O tal vez pueda poner a sus hijos en el lugar de los empleados.

Recibo muchas llamadas de reclutadores para trabajos en la industria del petróleo y el gas. No tengo nada en contra del petróleo y el gas, pero esas empresas despiden cada vez que el precio del petróleo baja 10 dólares el barril. Lo siento, necesito un trabajo con un poco más de estabilidad.

El trabajo por cuenta propia parece mucho menos peligroso cuando los trabajos "seguros" todavía te mantienen a sólo un mal mes de distancia respecto de la pobreza.

Gerente de contratación: "¿Por qué debería contratarte?"
Yo: "He revisado su lista de trabajos y creo que está más que calificado para ser mi próximo empleador".

Yo al final de la entrevista: "Todavía tengo algunos empleadores más para entrevistar, pero gracias por su tiempo".
